Ethel S. Wiley

Ethel Peggy Stockton Wiley, 91, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Hillcrest Healthcare in Owensboro. She was born June 25, 1915, in Glen, Mississippi, to the late Grady H. and Josie Elizabeth (Johnson) Stockton. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul C. Wiley on January 13, 1983, and a son in law, Samuel J. Palmer Sr. She retired at age 75 from a family business, Owensboro Iron Works, formerly known as Owensboro Ornamental Iron Works. She delighted in her family who knew and loved her as Nannie. She was a member of Breckenridge United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of AARP.

Survivors include her son James P. Wiley and wife, Barbara, and daughter, Sue Wiley Palmer, all of Owensboro, seven grandchildren, Samuel J. Palmer and wife Jan of Central City, Evelyn Keeley and husband, Phil of Lexington, Lt. Col. Paul G. Palmer and wife Joan of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jim Palmer and wife Connie of Owensboro, Amanda Palmer of Bowling Green, James P. Wiley Jr. and wife Kristin of Indianapolis, IN., and David G. Wiley and wife Elizabeth of Mooresville, IN., and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harry Lewis officiating. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Breckenridge United Methodist Church.
