Ethel Foster Coffey, 94, of Owensboro died peacefully, Saturday, August 8, 2009 at her home. She was born in Daviess County on February 18, 1915 to the late Stewart and Ree Ora Adams Foster. Mrs. Foster retired from General Electric; enjoyed gardening, traveling, genealogy, quilting, and spending time with her family. She was a charter member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle of Owensboro where she taught Sunday school and was the church treasurer for many years.
Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ernie E. Coffey; a daughter, Retha Carolyn Coffey; a son, Foster Howard Coffey; a great-grandson, Ash Valic Coffey; sisters, Nora Brown and Myrdith Hamilton; and brothers, Ed Foster and Ray Foster.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Nina Coffey of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Maddox Coffey of Owensboro; grandchildren, Tina (Glenn) Helwig, Gina (Kyle) Dailey, Chris Coffey, Tani Coffey, and Chad Coffey; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina Clark Powers and Vera Church both of Owensboro; sisters-in-law, Stella Coffey of Owensboro and Elsie Coffey Ward of Shelbyville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 12 noon, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Pogue officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
