Ethan Hugh Elijah Gillim

Ethan Hugh Elijah Butch Gillim, 10, of 5740 Jack Hinton Road, Philpot, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah from injuries sustained in a motorcycle racing accident. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. on August 30, 1996 and was a 4th grade student of Stacy Harpers at Country Heights Elementary School. He enjoyed attending Masonville United Methodist Churchs Youth Group and was a member of the American Motorcyclist Assoc. His biggest love was motorcycle racing which he had been competing in since he was four years old. In his six years of racing, he had won 18 national championship titles in dirt track racing and had recently started road racing. In 2004, he won the American Motorcyclist Associations Youth Horizon Award. His family had built a track at their home and he loved riding on it with his brothers, Frankie Lee and Hayden, his cousin Jacob Powell, and other friends. A banked portion of the track could be watered down and they enjoyed using it as a mud slide to slide down into a pond which was in the center of the track. He had many friends of all ages and everybody that met him thought he was the coolest young man they had ever seen and he loved hanging out with his best friends, Corey Koller, Luke Baird, Jake Lewis, Nick McFadden, Kyle Lambert and his cousin Jacob. He also loved his dogs, Packer and Socks and talking on the telephone.

Surviving is his parents, Kerri & Frankie Gillim of Philpot, two brothers, Frankie Lee, age 14 and Hayden, age 12, both at home, his 2nd Mom, Mick Mickey Mouse Conkright of Ft. Collins, Colorado, grandparents, Frank & Sandy Gillim of Masonville, Linda Watts of Masonville, Suzy Hayden of Owensboro, and Marty Hayden and his wife Marie of Owensboro, a great grandmother, Myrtle Conley of Masonville, aunts, Shawna Powell and husband James, Jennifer Harley and husband Jimbo, and Jeana Clater, an uncle, Michael Hayden and wife Amanda, and six cousins, Peyton Harley, age 13, Jacob Powell, age 12, Kiersten Martin, age 10, Makenna Powell, age 9, Jake Harley, age 6, and Kylen Clater, age 5.

Prayer services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, May 10, at Glenn Funeral Home for those that may not be able to attend the funeral followed by funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Masonville United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
