Ernest Calvin Young

Ernest Calvin Bub Young, 76, of Owensboro died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at his home. Born on November 23, 1928 in Daviess County, he was the son of the late Rudy and Ilene Quinn Young. Mr. Young was a member of the Precious Blood Catholic Church and was retired from Sears and Roebuck where he worked in the Delivery Department. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Atlanta Braves baseball, UK basketball, the San Francisco 49ers, his dog Scooter, and was a horse player and handicapper. He was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Stephen Young in 1996 and a sister, Alice Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Regina Peggy Aud Young; four sons, Mark Young and Larry Young both of Owensboro, Greg Honda Young of Poole, and Mike (and his wife Karen) Young of Knottsville; two daughters, Cindy (and her husband Kenny) Bertram of Owensboro, and Regina Hagan (and her husband Gary) of Stanley; 13 grandchildren; and five sisters, Eva Jarboe of Buffalo, IN, Margaret Goins and Dorothy Thomas of Owensboro, Lou Munday of Philpot, and Mary Brooks of Fulton, NY.

Funeral services are 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 at Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial in St Peter Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 1 to 6 p.m.Sunday with prayers at 6 p.m. Sunday and after on 9 a.m. Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice, St. Judes Hospital, or Precious Blood Catholic Church.
