Kathleen Marksberry Sampley, 92, of the Carmel Home, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on October 2, 1918 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Luther Hensley Marksberry and Anna Frances Blythe Marksberry. She was a homemaker and member of Owensboro Christian Church. Kathleen was a very loving and generous person who loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed raising flowers and collecting Indian artifacts. She was also preceded in death by her husband Duncan "O.D." Sampley on January 12, 1995, three sisters, Thelma Thompson, Margaret Green, and Martine Cline, and a brother, Louis Marksberry.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte (Dennis) Gatton of Maceo and Kathy (Joe Brown) Sampley of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Duane (Ginny) Gatton of Somerville, In., Stephanie Gatton of Charlotte, N.C., Lori Gatton of Owensboro, Darin (Kim) Gatton of Maceo, and Duncan Bly Brown of Owensboro, six great grandchildren, Blake (Emily) Gatton of Owensboro, Heather Turner of Charlotte, Alison Gatton and Luke Gatton, both of Somerville, Trevor Gatton and Noah Gatton, both of Maceo, a sister, Anna Blythe Howard of Calhoun, a brother, William H. (Louise) Marksberry of Philpot, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
