Born in Liberty, Mississippi, Emily was a graduate of Mississippi College and attended the Carver School of Missions of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. She worked as a secretary in many places, including Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Emily was an extraordinarily kind and gentle person who loved simple pleasures of family and friendship. She loved her Lord, reading the Bible, and being part of His church. She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir in all the congregations where her husband Joe served as a minister, including Dawson Baptist Church in Philpot and Third Baptist Church in Owensboro. She loved animals, especially cats, and good books of all kinds.
