Eloise Ambs Higdon, 82, of Owensboro died Monday, February 12, 2007 at The Carmel Home. A native of Daviess County, Mrs. Higdon was a daughter of the late Henry and Alice Cheshire Ambs, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Dedicated to her children and family, she loved to cook for her children and enjoyed reading and cross-stitch. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Higdon in 1989, a daughter, Ruth Ann Higdon, a son, Kevin Higdon, her brothers, Frank Ambs, Anthony Ambs, George Ambs, and Pete Ambs, and her sisters, Anna Belle Nicely, Mary Durbin, and Margie Howard.
Mrs. Higdon is survived by her daughters, Connie Nugent and her husband Jerry, Jane Strehl and her husband Gene, and Rita Johnston and her husband Hal, all of Owensboro, and Angela Mayfield and her husband Joey, of Philpot; her sons, Ed Higdon and his wife Ellen, Phil Higdon and his wife Diane, and Ben Higdon and his wife Cecelia, all of Owensboro, Bernard Higdon and his wife Debbie of Paducah, and Mark Higdon and his wife Janice of Bowling Green; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Higdon of Martinez, CA; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. John Meredith. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. . Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Carmel Home or the ALS Foundation.
