Eloise Harley

Eloise Harley, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. She was born on April 2, 1918 in Breckenridge Co. to the late George Peyton and Katie Mae Salmon Thompson. Eloise was a homemaker and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. She loved spending time with her family, shopping with her granddaughter Diane, reading, and attending her church, Owensboro Christian. She also had previously been a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Harley on March 18, 1983, five daughters, Deloise Mae Roberts, Gloria Jean Roper, Beverly Jean Harley, Anna Louise Harley, and Judith Elaine Arrants, a granddaughter, Jonell Roberts, and a great grandson, Jeremy Ward.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Schmeing of Somerset, KY and Wanda Faye and husband Bob Jenkins of Nancy, KY, two sons, William Lacy and wife Johannah Harley of Louisville and James P. and wife Donna Harley of Owensboro, 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren, six sisters, Virginia Sharp, Rose McDaniel, and Joanie Thompson, all of Louisville, Shirley Pepin of Wichita, KS, Ann Underwood of Prospect, and Sue Fowler of Columbus, GA, two brothers, Donald Thompson of LaGrange, and Bud Thompson of Middletown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Eloise will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 27, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Myke Templeton officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
