Ellen Dee Rayman Ford

Ellen Dee Rayman Ford, 82 of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Kindred Healthcare - Hillcrest. Born in Daviess County, a daughter of the late John Arnold and Jenny Bray Rayman, she married her husband Walter Clayton Ford in 1947 as part of the first double marriage performed at Hall Street Baptist Church, along with Virginia and Johnny Hamilton. During her 50 year membership at Hall Street, she taught Sunday school and was a leader of Training Union. She loved her church, her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family dinners as much as anything. She was a member of Maceo Baptist Church for the last 15 years so she could look out for the pastor. Mrs. Ford worked for several years at the Wee Peoples Nursery and cared for the children of others in her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Westerfield; her brothers, Jack Arnold Rayman, John Rayman, Jr., Harold D. Rayman and J.R. Rayman; and her sisters, Nellie Mason, and Margie Rayman.

She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Walter Clayton Ford; her daughter Sharon Gale Westerfield of Owensboro; her son Rev. W. Scott Ford (Patti) of Maceo; her grandchildren Jenny Westerfield Roberts (Brian) of Philpot, Amanda Ford Sosh (Billy) of Maceo, and David Ford of Manchester, CT.; and her great-grandchildren, Haley and Bennett Roberts and Caleb and Lacey Sosh.

The funeral service for Mrs. Ford will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contribution to the Swimming Pool Fund of Schafer Baptist Camp, caree of the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association, 1003 Scherm Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.
