Ella "Deanie" Jones, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, February 9 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 5, 1922 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late William R. "Boss" and Dolly "Sharp" Jones. Deanie grew up in the Whitesville community and attended Stephens School. Shortly after high school she began her career at General Electric. She retired after 46 years of service.
Deanie was a longtime member of Hall Street Baptist Church and an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed collecting antiques, Kentucky Wildcats Basketball, NASCAR racing, and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Wilma Whitt, Nora Williams and Helen Bertram; and two brothers, Marvin and William Louis Jones.
Ms. Jones is survived by a sister, Opal Lawrence of Fillmore, IL and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday, February 13 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Dr. Steven E. Granger will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will also be on Friday, after 12 Noon at the funeral home.
