Elizabeth G. Johnson Wood

Elizabeth "Babe" Wood, 96, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Wellington Parc. Born December 2, 1912 in Daviess County, she was the daughter of the late Azro and Emma Wall Johnson; was a homemaker member of Central Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Wood enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, and caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen C. "Bill" Wood in 1993; brothers, Marvin Johnson and W.D. "Dub" Johnson; and sisters, Martine Nelson and Mary Helen Hale.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen T. and Brenda Taylor Wood of Owensboro; a grandson, Stephen Wayne (and Barbie) Wood of Louisville; a great-granddaughter, Candace Crystal Wood of Louisville; a sister, Alma Woodward; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p..m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mike Taylor officiating followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 12 p.m. on Thursday.
