Elizabeth Spurrier Rhoden

Ms. Elizabeth (Spurrier) Rhoden, 98, of Owensboro, passed away December 20, 2015 in Owensboro. She was born August 14, 1917 to the late Bjarne Hary and Pearl (Dodds) Spurrier.
Ms. Rhoden worked as a registered nurse for 42 years at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, retiring in 1982. She also worked for Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Ms. Rhoden was a member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Senior Citizens-Golden Partners and American Nursing Association.
She authored seven books after reaching the age of 90.
Ms. Rhoden was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Smith, Frances Berger and Ruth Spurrier; and brothers, D.N. Spurrier and John David Spurrier.
She is survived by her brother, B. Harry Spurrier Jr. and his wife, Mary Ruth; sisters, Louise Phillips of Louisville, KY, Naomi Thurmond and her husband, Joe of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
The service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 27 at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Condolences may be offered online at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
