Elizabeth "Betty" Payne

Elizabeth Catherine Payne, 84, of Knottsville, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. Elizabeth, known to all as Betty, was born to the late Hugh and Bea Millay on August 11, 1931. She was a lifelong member of St. Williams Catholic Church and had retired from DCPS as a bus driver. Betty enjoyed playing bingo, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bill Payne; sister, Delphine Roby; and brothers, John Millay and Buck Millay.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Fulkerson and her husband Garry, Kay Higdon and her husband John, Jeff Payne and his wife Rosie, Donnie Payne, Timmy Payne all of Knottsville, Michelle Boarman and her husband Joe of Whitesville and Jill Hall and her husband Jim of Franklin, KY; 17 grandchildren, Jason (Tamara) Fulkerson, Clint Fulkerson, Heath (Sheridan) Fulkerson, Laura (Brad) Connor, Becky (Vince) Horn, Danny (Samone) Payne, Matt Payne, Josh (Emily) Payne, Elizabeth (Adam) O'Donoghue, Vanessa Payne, Jesse (Megan) Payne, Kelly Jo (Aaron) Walker, Lynn (Dusty) Merritt, Dawn (Travis) Woosley, Jeb Richardson, Heather (Sam) Scarborough, Holly (Michael) Snodgrass; 26 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Claude (Erma) Millay, Hubert (Becky) Millay, Tom Millay and Mike (Marty) Millay; and sisters, Stella (Jackie) Higdon, Rosie Meserve, Marguerite (Kenny) Lanham, Clara (Bob) Brown, and Agnes (Wayne) Harley.

Per Betty's wishes, there will be no visitation. A mass for Betty will be celebrated on January 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church in Knottsville.
