Elizabeth Therese Oberst O'Bryan, 99, of Owensboro entered into eternal life in her one hundredth year on Monday, February 29, 2016 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Herman and Anna Winkler Oberst.
Mrs. O'Bryan was a loving and dedicated homemaker and charter member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. She could be described as a "gentle matriarch".
She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband of 38 years, Marion Albin O'Bryan, Sr.; a son, Marion A. O'Bryan, Jr.; a sister, Anna Marie Davis; and brothers, Marcellus, Herman Jacob, and Gerald Oberst.
Mrs. O'Bryan is survived by a daughter, Sister Rose Marita O'Bryan of Maple Mount; sons, H. Joseph O'Bryan and his wife, Maggie of Owensboro, David E. O'Bryan and his wife, Trafta of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Jennifer O'Bryan, Michael O'Bryan and his wife, Kelly, Jill Payne and her husband, Randy, Dana Peters and her husband, Todd and Nathan O'Bryan; great-grandchildren, Preston and Parker Ellis, Clayton and Kaylee O'Bryan, Brycen and Camden Elizabeth Payne, Hayden and Camden James Peters; a sister, Rose Clark and her husband, Al of Owensboro; and a brother, Cletus Oberst and his wife, Dee of Dayton, OH.
The funeral mass will be at 10 AM, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Fr. Richard Powers will officiate with burial at Mater Dolorosa. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 until 7 PM, with prayers at 7 PM, and on Friday after 9 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
