Elizabeth Grant Jones

Elizabeth "Bettye Deane" Grant Jones, 84, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at The Carmel Home. Born in Owensboro, she was a daughter of the late Ivo Albert Grant and Sarah Cecilia Manning Grant who until the end of World War II owned the Grant Canning Company. She, along with her husband and best friend, Harold Dean Jones, owned Harold's Economy Cleaners, and together operated it for 33 years until Harold's death in 1990. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of St. Francis Academy and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Devoted to her family, she was a loving and gracious person who enjoyed music, dancing, bridge, and the occasional game of poker. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include her children, Suzanne Lee and her husband Larry, Elaine Mills and her husband Mike, Dean Jones and his wife Tina, Becky Mitchell and her husband Marty, all of Owensboro, Russ Jones and his wife Kim of Woodstock, GA, and Teela Watts and her husband Stanley of Versailles; twenty grandchildren, Nicole Moss, Katherine Sims, Amanda Dikici, Ginny Ward, Mollie Mills, Maggie Thompson, Sarah Jones, Maggie Jones, Laura Jones, Rachel Jones, Mary Jones, Beth Merchant, Andrew Mitchell, Jody Mitchell, Russell Jones, Nick Jones, Lizie Jones, Megan Watts, Harry Watts, and Jane Watts; twelve great-grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Lauren, Chloe, Mary Claire, Nicholas, Gracie, Cale, Maggie Beth, Aisha, Sophia, and Joseph; her sisters, Sallie Johnson, Eleanor Whitaker, and Lucille Wilson, all of Owensboro; and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Grant and Carrie Grant, both of Owensboro.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory will be from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
