Elizabeth "Josie" Hayden, 78, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Daviess County to the late Hillman and Lillie Abel Hagan.

Josie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, Mamaw and homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and the weekly get togethers held at her home. Josie was an active member of St. Martin Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society and was recipient of the Sophia Award.

Mrs. Hayden was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John D. Hayden in 2010; a sister, Johnnie Mae Howard; and brothers, Skeeter and Richard Hagan.

She is survived by children, Susan (Joe "Bub" ) Zogg and Gail (Danny) Campbell of Owensboro, Joan (Pat "Doc") Thompson of Nashville, TN., Tammie (Rick) Thomas of Owensboro, Sandra (Bob) Payne of St. Joseph and Brian (Jeanne) Hayden of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Matt, Jared, Casey, David, Kevin, Eric, Derrick, Taylor, Alex and Maggie; 5 great grandchildren (and 2 on the way); and a sister, Mary Helen Howard.

The funeral mass will be at 10 AM Saturday, November 1, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones and Fr. Pat Bittel will officiate. Burial will be at St. Raphael Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-8 PM, with prayers at 6, and on Saturday after 8:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
