Elizabeth Nall Garmon, 95, of Hillcrest Health Care died there Saturday, June 19, 2004. Mrs. Garmon was born in Owensboro, the daughter of W. H. and Elizabeth McCoy Nall. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. A 1925 graduate of Owensboro High School, she tied for Valedictorian of her class. She was a math major and had her schooling at Western KY State Teachers College in Bowling Green where she meet her husband, James O. Garmon of 64 years. He preceded her in death in 1994. Her 1st teaching job was at Hughes Kirk Grade School where she had to ride horseback to school. She was a substitute teacher for the Owensboro City School System and taught pre-school at Settle Memorial. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William L. Garmon in 1976, two brothers, Joseph R. Nall and W. H. Nall, Jr. and a sister, Julia Nall Gardner.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bob and Carmela Garmon in Owensboro and a daughter-in-law, Joan Garmon of CT. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses; Jeff Garmon of Maryland Heights, MO, Jack & Marcia Garmon of Frankfort, KY, Rich & Alex Garmon of Harwington, CT, Linda Garmon of Cambridge, MA and Lisa & Curt Newcom of Owensboro; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
