Elizabeth was a long-time member of Hancock Christian Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and had many cherished friends.
In her early years Elizabeth worked in the cafeteria at Tamarack Elementary School, Morrison’s Cafeteria, and the cafeteria at Owensboro High School. After retirement she worked several more years as a caregiver for Home Instead.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Hoyt Allen, her parents, her brothers Herbert Freels, Jr. and James Edward Freels, and her beloved sister Mary Freels Bell.
She is survived by her four daughters Wendy Wells (Brian) of Owensboro, Cindy Goodrid (Steve) of Owensboro, Lori Webb (Paul) of Ackworth, GA, and Renee Ryan (Rick) of Hastings. FL. Also left to mourn her memory are her dear grandchildren Eric Crago (Satoko) of San Diego, CA, John Wells (Sarah) of Owensboro, Helen Sheriff (Landon) of Owensboro, Alex Goodrid of Broomfield, CO, and Matthew Goodrid of Denver, CO.
Elizabeth is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a brother Archie Freels, the father of her children Wendell Thompson, and George’s children: Brad Allen (Vanessa), Tracy Thompson (Jamison), and Julie Melton (Bill.)
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky or Hancock Christian Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heartford House for their loving, respectful care of our mother and grandmother.
