Elizabeth Anne Simpson Cox

Elizabeth "Sister" Simpson Cox, 83 of Owensboro passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Owensboro on July 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn J. and Charlotte Sweeney Simpson; a graduate of Owensboro High School and the University of Kentucky; and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Grover Cox in 2003; a daughter, Libby Cox in 1978; a grandson, Jay Puckett in 1998; and a brother, William Peyton Simpson.

She is survived by children, Charlotte (Paul) Puckett of Owensboro, Grover Cox (and Cynthia Field) of Louisville, and Mary (Richard) Yerington of Owensboro; grandchildren, Lee Puckett (Matthew) Williams of Owensboro, Peyton (Lizzie) Cox and Channing Cox of Louisville, and Rob Gleason and John Gleason of Owensboro; three great-grandchildren, Johnathan Taylor Adkisson, Anna Williams and Elliott Williams; and a sister, Mary Forrest (William) Myles of Campbellsville, KY.

Services are 12 noon Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Carroll officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
