Eleanor Jane Wells, 73, loving wife of David Wells of Owensboro, KY, passed away September 4, 2015 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky after a brief illness.
Eleanor was born December 19, 1941 in Birmingham, AL to Joe Nail and Alma ''Buddy'' Nail Langston. She retired in 2003 after working for Dr. Richard Gruenwald, who was also a close friend. An active member of her church, Eleanor found joy in her prayer shawl ministry and bible study group, as well as the mission work she and David did in the Czech Republic.
Loved by many, she was a selfless caretaker who always put others' needs above her own. Her positive outlook uplifted everyone around her. Beloved wife, sister, mother, Ma Maw and friend - rest in peace dear one.
Married for 37 years to the late W. Charles Vickers, Sr., Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents; step-father, William ''Bill'' Langston; grandmother, Minnie ''Momma'' Johns; and a brother, Richard Nail.
She is survived by her husband, David; a brother Charles ''Eddie'' Langston, sons, Charles Vickers (Cheryl) and David Vickers (Mistene); daughter, Rebecca Keller; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several dear friends.
The funeral service will be at 10 AM Wednesday, September 9 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Darren Brandon and Rev. Damon Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM and after 8:30 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
