Eileen K. Gentry, 75, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 at her residence. Born May 29, 1932 in Bayonne, New Jersey, Mrs. Gentry was the daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Mary Healy Kennedy. Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and member of St. Stephen Cathedral; a lifelong Owensboro Catholic sports fan; and she did volunteer work at the soup kitchen, Hospice and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Kennedy and Joyce Kennedy, and her brother, Johnny Kennedy.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Norman Gentry, Sr., her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Suzanne Gentry of Henderson and Norman Gentry, Jr. of Owensboro, her grandchildren, Norman Gentry III of Owensboro, Justin Gentry, US Army, of Ft. Campbell, Jessica Gentry Weafer and her husband Matt of Owensboro, Tommy Gentry, US Coast Guard, of Astoria, Oregon, D.W. Gentry of Henderson, and Patrick Gentry of Henderson, her great-grandchild, Ryan Gentry, and her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Lee Gessner of Florida.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at St. Stephen Cathedral with Father Edward Bradley and Father John Vaughan concelebrating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007, with prayers at 5:30 p.m., and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
