Effie Tommie Goins Millay

Effie Tommie Goins Millay, 89, of Owensboro, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at her home. She was a native of Owensboro, born to the late William and Hattie (Jones) Goins. Effie and her husband owned and operated Ed Millay Grocery in Stanley, and she was a homemaker and had previously worked at General Electric. She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time with her family and her Sunday school class., she enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, and was a wonderful cook. Her husband, Edwin "Boss" Millay preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Jeff (Patricia) Millay, Marilyn (Joe) O'Bryan, Wayne (Karla) Millay and Denise (Barry) Basham, all of Owensboro, and grandchildren, Casey Millay, Tara Martin, Christy O'Bryan, Sean O'Bryan, Derrick (Rachel) Millay, Edwin Millay, Kiley Wiles, Shelby Wiles, Cortney Basham, Seth Basham, and great-grandchildren, Aidan Martin, Brylee Martin Daveon Hinton, Reese Hinton, and Grace Millay.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Dennis McFadden officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky or to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church.
