Edwin F. Merimee

Edwin F. Merimee, 89, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, October 3rd at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born November 27, 1936, in Daviess County to the late Joseph Orville and Ellenor Susan Merimee.

Ed worked in retail sales as a young man and eventually added a wrecker business. This included some evening hours with family help and certainly created some memories. He then started a business in the home improvement industry which he operated for over 40 years.

He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Ed’s favorite way to spend his time was with family, but he also enjoyed traveling, searching flea markets for tools and pocket knives and showing off his trucks. He also loved going every morning to have breakfast and socialize with his buddies. Ed will be dearly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Ann Merimee in 2024.

Those left to cherish his memory include children, Steve Merimee (K.), Jeffrey Merimee (Robin), and Michelle Heisler (Jim); siblings, Peggy Volk and Danny Merimee (Patty); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be at Noon, Friday, October 9th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
