Edward E. “Gene” Wink, Jr., 87, of Utica,Kentucky passed away Friday, January 16, 2026. One of thirteen children, he was born in Sorgho, Kentucky to the late Edward and Susan Greenwell Wink.
Gene was a lifelong farmer and past-president of the local chapter of the National Farmers Organization. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Lions Club. Gene was a skilled musician who played several different instruments and had a passion for Bluegrass music. He enjoyed many trips around the country pickin’ and grinnin’ with friends and regularly volunteered at the Bluegrass Museum. He was often to be found at “Ma Bell’s” or Utica Food Mart visiting with friends. Gene was also an avid golfer. He will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Theresa Wink Bennett in 2015 and Allen Wink in 1997; siblings, Martha Jane Lashbrook, Rose Wink, Bobby Wink, Tony Wink, Paul Wink, and Bernie Wink.
Mr. Wink is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline Wink; children, Eddie Wink (Karen) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Lisa (Sam) VanBussum of Owensboro, Lucy (Steve) Kaelin of Owensboro and Dale (Leslie) Wink of Utica; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Wink of Owensboro, Sue Smith of Hardinsburg, Julia Rynerson of Franklin, Indiana, Mary Alice Stratman of Newburgh, Indiana, Carol Smith of Owensboro and Annette Stiff of Forest, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 22nd at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Fr. Pat Bittel will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM, with prayers at 6:00 PM, and Thursday from 8:30 until 9:15 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
