Edward Allen White, 77, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Born in Hancock County, KY, a son of the late Douglas and Nannie Helen Coons White, he retired from Whirlpool, having worked there for 37 years. Mr. White was a member of the Kentucky Army National Guard, where he served with the former 2nd Battalion of the 123rd Armor Division, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He loved farming, his tractor on which he enjoyed taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for rides, brush piles, brush fires, and cleaning up the countryside. Attending auctions and sales was the way he indulged his love of collecting, especially NASCAR memorabilia and vintage comic books. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Also preceding him in death were his brother, James, Filmore White, a grandson Cody Dylan Sorrels, and a great-grandson Jaxon Blake Spurrier.
Mr. White is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Thelma Quinn White; his sons Dwayne White (Kathleen) of Richfield, MN, David White (Donna) of Princeton, Indiana, and Dean White of Owensboro; his daughters Tina Main (Bruce), Karen Sorrels (Jim), and Tracy Bell (Brett), all of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mr. White, officiated by the Rev. Patrick Reynolds, will be 12:00 noon Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Field of Honor at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
