Edward Harris Varble

Edward Harris Varble, a beloved servant of the Lord, Jesus, husband, father, and friend, passed away on September 26, 2023, at the age of 79. Born on July 25, 1944, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Edward was a vibrant and charismatic individual who left a lasting touch on the lives of those around him. His personality was full of sunshine and his devotion to God, family and friends, was unwavering.

He had an adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. Edward loved to travel with his family, and had the opportunity to visit forty-eight of the fifty states, creating cherished memories along the way. Whether casting a line into the water while fishing, taking in the beauty of the great outdoors, going to church, or, simply, enjoying a nice dinner with his beloved wife and family, he lived joyfully and delighted in all the good that life has to offer.

Sports were another interest in Edward's life. He found enjoyment in cheering for the University of Kentucky basketball team. Also, he greatly enjoyed watching movies and wrestling. These moments of entertainment provided him with a well-deserved break from the demands of daily life. However, nothing brought Edward more joy than spending quality time with his family and creating lasting memories. Whether it was gathering at Kentucky Lake, teaching his family how to fish, or simply enjoying each other's company, he cherished all those moments dearly.

Edward's faith was an integral part of his life, as he was a devoted believer and an active member of Audubon Nazarene Church. He met his to-be-wife, Evelyn, at the First Church of the Nazarene when he was only, sixteen. Together they built a family around their love for the Lord.  Edward was preceded in death by a beloved grandfather, Roy Edward Varble, Sr.; brother, Steven Lloyd Varble; mother, Mattie Harris Lanier Varble; aunt, Evelyn M. Varble; grandmother, Ruth Bidwell; and father, Roy Edward Varble, Jr.

Leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, Edward is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Varble, his daughters, Lisa Crowe and Linda Booker (Mike), and his son, Jacobe Crowley; grandchildren, Mark Crowe, Jr., Victoria Carlisle (Jackie), Joseph Sapp (Chelsea), Evelyn Moore (Travis), and Debbie Barber (Brandon); and eleven great-grandchildren. Edward was the best husband, father, and friend that his loved ones could’ve ever hoped for.
