Edward L. Payne, 91, of Owensboro, passed away March 19, 2018 at his home. He was born May 18, 1926 in Reynolds Station, KY to the late Walter and Mary Richards Payne. Edward worked in maintenance and as a welder for 37 years at Medley Distillery. He enjoyed UK basketball and restoring old cars, particularly Mustangs. Edwards also really loved going to Fordsville Days to check out the antique tractors and classic cars.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Skip, Richard, and Jerry Payne; and a daughter-in-law, Becky Payne.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Carolyn Harl Payne; his daughter, Sherrie Wills of Owensboro, his son, Danny Payne and his special friend, Linda Lattin of Owensboro; a step grandson, Robert Jackson (Nancy); a step great grandson, Patrick Jackson; a sister, Anna Faye Keller and her husband, Earl; and sister in law and brother in law, Judy and Phillip Henning, of Lexington.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till the time of service at the funeral home.
