Edward Thomas Laughley, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at his home. He was born May 14, 1939 in Chester, West Virginia to the late Charles T. and Helen Hughes Laughley. Ed was retired as a civil engineer from Peabody Coal Co. and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He received his Bachelor of Science degree and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of West Virginia. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council with Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he had served as Grand Knight. Ed served in the Peace Corps for several years in Pakistan and the Middle East and also worked Government contracts for the U.S. in Vietnam, where he met his wife. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Lourdes Men's Club, and church cooking team. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Lan-chi Laughley Prather on April 27, 2001.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Tuyet Anh Nguyen Laughley, a son, Charles Edward Laughley and wife Kristie of Aledo, Texas, and eight grandchildren, Hunter, Sydney, Peyton, Ashlyn, Karly, and Caden Thomas Laughley, all of Aledo, Thomas Andrew Oldham of Louisville, Preston Jude Middleton of Owensboro, a brother-in-law, Van Winn and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Florida, and their children, Joe Winn and wife Erica of Southern California and Jonathan Winn of Orlando, Florida.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with prayers at 6:30 P.M. and from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
