Edward Green

Edward J. "Joe" Green, 77, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Owensboro Place. He was born on August 10, 1936 in Daviess Co. to the late Augustus and Maggie Douglas Green. He was a member of Sweeney Street Baptist Church and had worked at General Motors and Swedish Match. Edward loved working on cars and playing cards. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William "Budden" Green, Leroy Green, and William T. Green, and a sister, Minnie Willingham.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lillie Mae Green, a son, Allen Lee (Sandra) Gilbert of Flint, MI, four daughters, Angela Wilhite Gilbert, Juanette (Otis) Stokley, and Cynthia Mason, all of Owensboro, and Leandra Miller of Bowling Green, 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, three sisters, Sally Sanders and Nancy Frazier, both of Owensboro, and Mary Frazier of Louisville, and a brother, James Green of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 28 at Sweeney Street Baptist Church with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
