Edna Mae Morris, 92, of One Park Place in Owensboro, passed away on June 21, 2012. Born Edna Mae Carr on December 24, 1919, near Nelson, Kentucky in Muhlenberg County, where she graduated from Drakesboro High School. In her early years, she worked on the family farm and Edna then worked in various retail establishments including A&P Grocery in Central City, where she met her future husband of 50 years, Earl Morris. Later in life, she was a full-time stay at home and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. They had also lived in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee, Hopkinsville, Kentucky and St. Petersburg, Florida, prior to moving to Owensboro in 1991. She enjoyed activities and visiting with her friends and neighbors at One Park Place, including their weekly Bingo games there.
Edna was the daughter of Charlie Carr and Maggie (Spicer) Carr of Central City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother's John Carr, Joe Carr, Leonard Carr, Bill Carr and Norman Carr, and sisters Irene Ferguson, Ruby McPherson and Clara Ruth Carr. Her husband, James Earl Morris, passed away in 2005.
Surviving are her daughter, Charlotte Kay Adams and her husband Buddy of Louisville, Kentucky, son Jerry Morris and his wife Koko of Owensboro, grandson David Sims and his wife Laura of Hopkinsville, granddaughters Rachel Morris of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Lacey Schneider and her husband Tony of Owensboro, and great-grandchildren Mason Sims, Victoria Sims, Kyle Schneider and Jack Schneider. She also leaves behind several very special nieces and nephews.
Services will be Noon Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, preceding the service. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky (Capital Campaign for the Heartford House) or to RiverPark Center.
