Edna Kornell, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at her home. She was born on October 29, 1914 in McCracken Co., Ky. to the late Emmett and Ruth Allgood Lytle. She was the co-owner and operator with her husband of the A & W Root Beer Drive-In and the Wee People Day Care for many years. She was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church and loved working with and caring for children. She provided working mothers a loving, caring, and safe place for their children. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Nina Marksberry, Gladys Young, Mabel Saltsman, and Elizabeth Jacobs.
Surviving is her loving husband of 55 years, Garland "Tony" Kornell, son, Roy Nicely and wife Phyllis of Owensboro, stepson, Gary Kornell and wife Micki of St. Louis, MO, grandchild, Teri Nicely-Robbins and husband Greg of Highlands Ranch, CO, three stepgrandchildren, Benjamin Kornell of Denver, CO, Clarissa Kornell of Ohio, and Daniel Kornell of St. Louis, MO and one great grandchild, Kyle Robbins of Highlands Ranch, CO.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will begin again at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 22 with the service immediately following at 12 Noon at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Buena Vista Baptist Church, 119 W. 24th. St., Owensboro, Ky. 42303.
