Edna Carol Duvall

Edna C. Duvall, 81, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. She passed peacefully with the same elegance that she lived her life, first making sure that everyone else was comforted and prepared. The Muhlenburg County native was born February 20, 1944, to the late Edward W. Wilkerson and Margaret Estes Wilkerson. Edna graduated from Owensboro High School, class of 1962, a fact that she celebrated with classmates for the rest of her life. From that point on, she lived with a relentless pursuit and passion to serve others. She always found opportunities to love and support those who were sick or hurting.

Edna’s greatest passion in life was her family. A protective and loving mother, she lived her life for her children, loving, supporting, and even missing them until the moment of her passing. Edna didn’t however, just love her children, she also poured love into her nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Evey friend of her children became a child of hers and she impacted their lives the same as her own. She just had more love than she could hold inside.

Her true passion, however, was found in being “Mimi” for her adoring and adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. She relentlessly pursued time with them all. You could always find her taking special trips, special lunches, and special time with all of them. If you saw her car around town, it was likely filled with her grandchildren. Mimi’s house was a hangout spot and Mimi’s kind of love was the treasure.

In addition to her parents, Edna also was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Robin Duvall Vaughn in 2014 whom she never stopped missing, and, with whom, she is now reunited.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 61 years, Jim Duvall; two sons, Jamie Duvall (Lisa) of Owensboro and Ben Duvall of Louisville; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Smith (Keith), Janice Westerfield, and Melissa Bruce; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was an avid reader that read at least one book a day for many years. Sharp, witted and amazingly smart, she could do her daily crossword in minutes. Mostly, Edna was love. She will be dearly missed but the ripple effect of her love she spread will echo into eternity.

The funeral service will be noon Friday, March 28 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm and Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
