Edith Mae Strehl

Edith M. Strehl, 91, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born August 7, 1913, to the late Oscar and Maude Sparks Fulkerson in McLean County. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church and the Berean Sunday School Class. Edith loved working in her yard, working puzzles and enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Strehl, who died November 16, 1980, and a grandson, Jamie Pruden, who died June 26, 2003.

Survivors include eight children, Ethel McElwain, Clara Burton and her husband Maurice, Dot Ford and her husband, Reyburn, and Betty Pruden, all of Owensboro, Virginia Hempel of Lexington; John Strehl and his wife, Gloria, Mike Strehl and his wife, Barbara, David Strehl and his wife, Debbie, all of Owensboro; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Marshall Fulkerson of Owensboro; and one sister, Anna Lee McPherson of Lanesville, IN; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, at Glenn Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, and after 9:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
