Edith Irene Foster

October 17, 1914 — June 3, 2003

Edith Irene Foster, 88, of 812 Triplett Street, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Hermitage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Glasgow, KY and was a member of First Baptist Church. She was co-founder with her husband, Wendell, of the Wendell Foster Campus for Developmental Disabilities in 1947. It first opened as the Spastic Home and School. She also was a Lady Kentucky Colonel and a KY Colonel and a member of the Spastic Guild, had been involved in many fundraisers, and enjoyed reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Foster in 1994.

Survivors include her daughter, Louise Foster of Owensboro, a half sister, Frances Abell of Robertsdale, Ala., several nieces including Lucy Kunze and Soni Brown, both of Owensboro, Jerri Robertson of Evansville, In., Jean Vanlandingham of Batavia, Oh., Vicki Sparks of Danville, KY a sister-in-law, Helen Vincent of Danville, and a close friend, Lucille Rose of Owensboro.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 6, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. and Friday after 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Wendell Foster Campus, P. O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42303, First Baptist Church, 230 J. R. Miller Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42303, or Hospice of Owensboro, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
