Edith Beck Chenault, 91 of Royal Arms Apartments, Owensboro, was taken to her eternal home 11:14 a.m. Saturday, September 6 while at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born July 14, 1917 in Muhlenberg County to the late Floyd and Lana Harris, at the age of two and following the death of her father, she was adopted by the late Elmer Cartwright and Caroline Dockery Cartwright. She married James Robert Beck and had five children. Edith had been an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church for most of her married life, having served in many positions at the church, including teacher in the primary department, member of the choir, outreach for her Gleaners Sunday school class, sending cards, and notes, making visits, cooking food, dishwasher for the kitchen committee for bereavement meals and whatever unmet need she saw. She could be called the "Big Little Lady", always present, smiling, and ready to do her part. Mrs. Beck was active in the Widowed Persons organization and a Kentucky Colonel. She retired from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital after more than 20 years as a surgical ward clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Beck, her second husband, Coleman Chenault, her sons James Beck, Bobby Beck, and Bruce Beck, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her son, Barry Beck and his wife Denise of Philpot; her daughter, Vickie Daugherty of Morgantown; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
