Eddie Fulkerson, 80, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Owensboro Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Daviess County to the late Joseph Henry and Ella Oglesby Fulkerson.
Mr. Fulkerson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Eddie was a coal miner for more than twenty-five years at Green Coal Company. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Daviess County. Eddie spent much of his life as a Catholic and in recent years he had attended Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. In earlier years, he volunteered countless hours coaching baseball and softball. He was an avid U.K. Basketball fan who enjoyed reading Westerns, traveling, spending time with family and his beloved dachshunds, Colonel and Reese.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Judith Seaton Fulkerson in 1993; brothers, Joe Fulkerson and (twin brother) Freddie Fulkerson; and two sisters, Mary Grisich and Louise Fuqua.
Eddie is survived by daughters, Rena Fulkerson of Owensboro, Lisa Wheeler of Lafayette, Indiana, Sandy Fitzgerald of Livermore, and Karen Ebelhar of Owensboro; sons, David Fulkerson of Arizona and Michael Fulkerson of Owensboro; a step-daughter, Tresia H. Crowe of Owensboro; a step-son, Robert J. Howard of Fordsville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his "lady friend", Virgie Sharp; Virgie's son, Jesse Calloway and his wife, Lisa, all of Owensboro; and a brother, Jim Fulkerson of Georgia.
The service will be 2 PM Monday, March 13 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 PM and Monday after 1 PM at the funeral home.
