Earl D. Watson

Earl D. Watson, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 15, 1923 in McHenry to the late Willie and Anna Belle Watson. He formerly was an owner-operator of the 9th. Street Bar and Kathy's Place Restaurant. Earl was a U. S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II. He was very proud of his time he served his country as a medic and had received several honors and medals including a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed raising a garden, shooting pool and joking around with and aggravating his friends. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Buck Watson on November 5, 1994, a daughter, Mary Kinsey in 2014, a granddaughter, Brandie Phegley in 1994, a stepdaughter, Sallie Lue Bartlett in 2000, and a stepson, Carl Victor Basinger, Jr.

Surviving are three daughters, JoAnn Loyd and husband Richard, Kathy Darlene Higgons, and Connie Earlene Wedding, all of Owensboro, a stepson, Charles Vernie Pinkston of Owensboro, a sister, Merle Watson, 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 19, at Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be there after 12 Noon.
