E. Louis Johnson

August 8, 1937 — December 19, 2017

E. Louis Johnson, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 after a brief illness. Born in Owensboro, Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, attended Brescia College, and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky from which he received a Bachelor of Science, and the University of Kentucky College of Law from which he received a Juris Doctor. Louis Johnson's passion was bringing people to know Jesus Christ. He was devoted to God's Kingdom, his family, his country, his commonwealth, and his community. He had American flags in both his front yard and back yard. His career saw him work as a district salesman for Swift and Company in Evansville from 1960 – 1962, a teacher and coach at Owensboro Catholic High School from 1962 – 1964, and as an attorney with Johnson and Presser from 1967 to the present. Preceding Mr. Johnson in death were his parents, James Junius Johnson and Martha Elnora Kerrick Johnson, his brother Robert L. Johnson, and his sister Mary Elnora Johnson Kurz.

Mr. Johnson was a member and elder of Owensboro Christian Church and had been a founding member of Owensboro Covenant Church. Prayer was an essential part of his life. At the age of 75 Mr. Johnson began riding his bike throughout the community, praying for the homes on each street he rode. A meticulous record-keeper, he mapped each ride. He had ridden through and prayed for two-thirds of Owensboro.
