Dwight Whitmer, 63, of Owensboro died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Dwight was a native of Owensboro born to the late Richard Whitmer and Vernile (Gray) Whitmer. He worked for Jasper Engines and Transmissions in production assembly, and attended Trinity Episcopal Church. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 1967 and attended Owensboro Community College. He liked his work, going to band competitions, and woodworking.
Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Beth Ann Whitmer, a son, Tyler Gray (Payton) Whitmer of Owensboro, step-sons, Jeremy (Danielle) Jones of Pittsburgh, PA., and Jonathan (Jill) Jones of Owensboro, grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Chevy Jones and Aaron Whitmer, his mother, Vernile Whitmer, brother, Richard Whitmer Jr., sisters, Judy ( Mark) Maddox and Debbie Hall, his mother-in-law, Barbara Hanselman and a sister-in-law, Julie Heuser, all of Owensboro, several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. G. Patrick Connell officiating, with a celebration of his life and reception following the services. Interment will be in the columbarium of Trinity Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Trinity Episcopal Memorial Fund, or to Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma Research at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
