Durwood Jay Ferguson, 72, of Owensboro died December 16, 2005, at his residence. Born March 30, 1933, in Muhlenberg County to the late Buell L. Ferguson and Nola Chapman, he was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, A member of VFW, he also enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was employed by Whirlpool for 28 years as an inspector.
He was preceded in death by brothers Glen and Bernie Ferguson; and sisters Eueldean Lyons, Goldie Clayton, and Margie Wedge.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wanda Ferguson, his children, Darrell and Carol Ferguson,
Monty and Cathy Maddox, and Ronnie and Shelly Ferguson, all of Owensboro; Loretta McGrath of Westville, Indiana; Terry and Sandy Ferguson of Valparaiso, Indiana; brothers Kenneth and Johnie Ferguson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Larry Ferguson of Owensboro; sisters Ada Marie Stinnett, and Dorothy Stinnett, both of Owensboro; grandchildren Terra Hanson, Keith Ray, Kendra Blair, Gary Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson, Skyler Ray, Lacey Ferguson, Travis Ferguson, Dustin Ferguson and Clay Ferguson; and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, at Glenn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gordon Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
