Dr. Robert Joseph "Bob" Hobbs

Dr. Robert Joseph “Bob” Hobbs, 87, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Carmel Home. The Mayfield native was born March 15, 1936, to the late Paul and Manon Hobbs. Bob studied at Brescia College then served for three years in the U.S. Airforce. After receiving his degree from the University of Louisville dental school, Bob opened a practice in Hawesville where he served that community until he retired in 1992. He and his wife, Anna, enjoyed traveling and went all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico in their RV. Later in life, they bought a house in Sebring, FL where they moved to enjoy the warm weather, boating, fishing and golf.  After the death of his beloved wife, Bob moved to the Carmel Home where he was able to enjoy his daughter’s families.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Anna Marie Hobbs in 2014 and his brother Eddie Hobbs.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Kathy (Billy) Reid and Sharon Hobbs both of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Valerie (Martin) Reel, Brad (Giddalthy Cecil) Reid, Alexea (Tim) Carrico, Katie (Matt) Clark, Tyler (Jamie) Hobbs, and Gracie Hebda Hobbs all of Owensboro; and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy (Bill) Cornell, Mary Ann (Phillip) Rhew, and Patricia (Larry) McKinney; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Hobbs family would like to express special appreciation to the caregivers of our father, The Carmel Home and staff, Dot Fortune, Patti Roberts, and Jamie Locke.

The funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2 at the Carmel Home with Fr. Ray Clark officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 pm at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Carmel Home.
