Douglas Foster Kingsley, 76, died Friday, July 8, 2016, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Doug was born September 5, 1939, to the late Douglas Cooper and Esther Foster Kingsley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Kendall Kingsley.
A 1957 graduate of Louisville Southern High School, Doug received his bachelor's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and his master's degree from Western Kentucky University. He was a teacher and football coach at Daviess County Junior High and Daviess County High School, a retail business owner, and most recently an assistant to the athletic director at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Doug was active in youth baseball, coaching at Southern Little League and in the Owensboro Babe Ruth League. He served on the Southern Board of Directors for several years. He was also an active member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church and on the executive committee of the Kentucky Wesleyan All-American Club. He was the recipient of the Cecil Triplett All-American Club award in 2001 and The KWC Alumni Service Award in 2012.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Linda Carver Kingsley; sons, Steven Douglas Kingsley and his wife Shelia, and Scott Foster Kingsley and his wife Kandy; grandchildren, Cody Jennings, Emma, Grant, Carver, Clayton, and Caroline Kingsley, and Alex, Elizabeth, and Logan Moore; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Carver and his wife, Kathy.
A memorial service is scheduled for 12:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and 10 until 12 Tuesday at the church.
