Douglas Ray "Skeeter" Beckhart, 78, of Utica, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 22, 1938 in Daviess Co. to the late Everett and Marie Cooper Beckhart. Douglas was retired as a boiler technician from Weyerhauser (Domtar) and was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran during the Viet Nam Era and retired from the Army National Guard after a total of 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and raising a garden. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to church. Douglas was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Allen, his sister, Nadine Bedsole, and his brother, Robert Beckhart.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Clara Conway Beckhart, his children, Ellen (Steve Lively) Riddle of Maceo, Dwight (Stacy) Beckhart of Owensboro, and Carla (John) Mattingly of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 25, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery with full military honors . Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday until time of services. \
