Dorsey Thompson

Dorsey Thompson, Jr., 73, of 1533 Creek Haven Loop, Owensboro, died Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Born November 5, 1931 in Lewisport, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Dorsey Thompson, Sr. and Rachel Ellen Wells Thompson. He was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the New Beginnings Sunday School Class and the Settle Cooking Team. Mr. Thompson retired from National Southwire Aluminum after 26 years service and he was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed planting trees and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son Eric S. Thompson in 1976.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lois M. Thompson; three daughters, Debby Thompson of Nashville, Beth Covetts and Susan Schwindel both of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, Charlie (and Laura Beth) McCaslin, A.J. Thompson, Jacob Schwindel, Tabitha Williamson, Tyler Covetts and Rachel Covetts; and a brother, Worden (and Carol) Thompson of Lewisport.

Funeral services are 10 A.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday.
