Dorothy Reisz Wethington, 91, of Utica, died on February 5, her 67th wedding anniversary. She was born in Daviess County to the late Albert C. and Ruth Tong Reisz. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Browns Valley, KY, the Altar Society, and was a graduate of St. Francis Academy and Owensboro Business College. She was retired from Owensboro Catholic High School where she worked in the attendance office for 23 years. While working at OCHS, she was known by the students for her fairness and love and was always thrilled when they approached her in the community. She had a passion for flower gardening and enjoyed collecting unique varieties of her favorite flowers and plants. She was an accomplished seamstress and a talented artist with her needlework. She believed in the power of the rosary and generously made and donated rosaries for the missions, family, and friends, as an expression of her deep faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Herman J. Wethington; son, Paul V. Wethington; her daughter, Ruth Ann Wethington; her sisters, Theresa Keller, Mildred Mischel and Ruth Hayden and her brother, Ed Reisz.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Knox-Tucker (Barney ) of Atlanta, GA; her sons, Ron Wethington (Connie), Utica, KY, and Bud Wethington (Jeanell), Tallahassee, FL; four grandsons, Tom Knox (Lori), Cumming, GA, Mike Knox (Jonna), Cumming, GA, Ryan Wethington, Nashville, TN, and Neil Wethington, Athens, GA; great-grandchildren, Mikala Knox, Abby Knox and JT Knox; sisters, Ann Bittel, Owensboro, KY, Patty Riney, Tucson, AZ, Mitzi Reid Speer, Owensboro, KY, Barbara Brown, Owensboro, KY, and Judy Burk, Shelbyville, KY; sisters-in-law, Rita W. Husted, Denver, CO and Rosemary Wethington, Denver, CO and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Reverends Tony Jones and Brad Whistle will officiate. Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM (with prayers at 7:00 PM) and on Saturday from 8:30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
