Dorothy K. Smith

Dorothy K. Smith, 87, of 2316 Bluff Avenue, Owensboro, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. The Breckenridge County native was born to the late William Henry and Dollye Babbitt Kerr on June 25, 1918. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard P. Smith, a retired Lieutenant with the Owensboro Police Department, in 1981 and a son, Jerry Lynn Smith in 1939. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and an avid political advocate for a better Owensboro community. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Wallace Lee Smith and James Leonard Smith, both of Owensboro; ten grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held, Monday, August 15, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Render Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
