Dorothy R. McMahan Nuckols

Dorothy Rhea McMahan Nuckols, 93, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, November 15 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Ohio County to the late George and Esther Jolly McMahan.

Dorothy retired from General Electric after thirty-six years of service. She was a forty-seven year member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and a longtime member of Golden Years Quilting Club. Dorothy was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gus Thomas "G.T." Nuckols, Jr. in 1982; a son, David Wayne Nuckols in 2008; sisters, Martine Newcomb and Mary Cilia; and brothers, Donnie Joe, Bill, Melvin, Vernon and George McMahan.

Dorothy is survived by daughters, Lynda Rhodes (Richard Hodgson) of Owensboro and Judy Powell (Jim) of Maceo; daughter-in-law, Kathi Nuckols of Bowling Green, KY; a son, Bob Lawson (Donna) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Gregory Scott Peercy of Berlin , Germany, Lisa Gayle Peercy of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Helmic (David) of Olive Branch, MS, Jared Powell (Amy) of Queen Creek, AZ, Josh Powell (Amanda) of Lexington, KY, David Wayne Nuckols (Stephanie) of Bowling Green, KY, Lee Allen Nuckols (Randi) of Owensboro, Robert Lawson (Karen) Owensboro, Russell Lawson (Kristen) of Owensboro; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Young of Lewisport and Bonnie Snyder (Jimmie) of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 12 PM, Friday, November 18 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 8 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Friday after 10 AM at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Dr. James Wedding will officiate and entombment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
