Dorothy Jean McEntire, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born March 4, 1931 in Harrison County, Indiana to the late Elmer Earl and Elizabeth Jane Frakes Colin. Dorothy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tell City and had been a homemaker and babysitter. She enjoyed sewing, researching her family genealogy, and was a Civil War historian. She had many cats over her lifetime and dearly loved her current cat, Bubba and enjoyed traveling when she could. Several of her children including David, Laurie, and Dan had been her caregivers over the last few years. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, DeForest McEntire in 2006, a brother, Paul Colin in 2017, and a cousin, Bernard Hughes.
Surviving are her children, Dee Lynn McEntire of Owensboro, Sharel Moorman (Robert, Sr.) of Evansville, Danny McEntire of Owensboro, Laurie Yocum (Randy) of Perryville, KY, and David McEntire (Kerri) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Shari Lee Chenault Harbison (Mike) of Missouri, Kevin Lee Chenault (Emily) of Evansville, Carrie Anita Chenault (Patrick) of Evansville, Robert Moorman of Evansville, Jake McEntire (Tabitha) of Owensboro, and Katie McEntire of Owensboro; several great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a sister, Constance Siebe of Holland, Indiana.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, May 29, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Sorgho. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Thursday and from Noon until 1:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
