Dorothy S. Marsh, 98, earned her wings and passed on to her eternal resting place on Sunday, April 22, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky following a short illness. Dorothy was born November 4, 1919 in Astoria, New York to the late Benjamin and Gertrude Buchalter. She was a woman of faith and was proud to call herself the matriarch of Relevant Faith Church. Dorothy was a most loving and supportive mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to those she held dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Genevieve; sister, Lottie Shepherd; and brother, Robert Buchalter.
Dorothy received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1945 and practiced for over 50 years before retiring at the age of 80. She affectionately referred to her life work as her ministry to help people both physically and mentally through manipulation, prayer, and good sound advice. She was lovingly missed by many of her patients upon her retirement in 2000.
In her earlier years, Dorothy enjoyed raising her family, sewing, crocheting, swimming, dancing, and singing. In later years, she loved spending time with friends and family, watching her grandsons and later two great grandsons, and praying for all who called upon her to be added to her long list of daily prayers. She loved watching TV and staying abreast of current events. Her mind remained sharp throughout her life as she freely discussed her feelings on politics, religion, and changes she wished to see in the world. She witnessed changes in her nearly century of living on a level that few people will ever experience.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda Taylor of Owensboro and her son, Larry Marsh of Bowling Green; two grandsons, Wes Taylor of Owensboro, and Jon Taylor (Tabitha) of Charleston, SC; two great grandsons, Chase Colton Taylor, and Griffin Quinn Taylor; several nieces and nephews and her constant four-legged companion, Charlie.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to an outstanding staff of caregivers at the Heartford House and Signature Hillcrest during her brief stays. Our family's sentiments: "someday when the pages of our lives end, you will be remembered as one of its most beautiful chapters."
A Celebration of Life service is planned for 4:00 pm Thursday, April 26 at Relevant Faith Church with visitation from 2:00 till 4:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Relevant Faith Church, 700 Wing Ave, Owensboro, KY 42303, or Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen's Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
