Dorothy Mae Kightly

Dorothy Kightly, 95, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2023, at Carmel Home. The Evansville, Indiana native was born September 11, 1928, to the late Cleve and Estella Smith Hoover. Dorothy grew up on W. Illinois Street in Evansville and graduated from Reitz High School with the class of 1946. She was a majorette and member of the Aqua Maids synchronized swimming team in high school. Dorothy continued her education, receiving a degree from Evansville Business College, then was employed at International Harvester. She finished her career as an executive secretary to several presidents and vice presidents of various corporations.      

Dorothy was the wife of the late John Kightly who passed away in 1992 and the mother of three children who will cherish her memory. They are Lance Kightly of Hebbardsville, Peggy Reed and husband, Gene of Collinwood, Tennessee, and Mike Kightly and wife, Lori of Plainfield, Illinois. She was grandmother to five grandchildren, Michelle Green (Shawn), Anthony Kightly (Mary), Jess MaGaha, Emily Kightly, and Allison Kightly. Dorothy also had nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A private graveside service and burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Evansville. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
